Ohio women’s soccer falls short to rival Miami

On Friday, September 28th, Ohio’s women’s soccer team played Miami of Ohio at Chessa Field. The Redhawks won the game against the Bobcats, 1-0, carrying on their winning streak against rival Ohio since 2008.

In the first half, Miami had one shot on goal while Ohio had two. Yet neither team had success with a goal. Ohio fouled seven times in the first half, Miami six.  In the second half, Miami came out with ten more fouls and nine shots on goal, Ohio fouled three more times, and had one more shot on goal.

Miami’s Jess Kodiac scored in the seventy-sixth minute with an assist from Haley Walter on a rebound. In total, Miami’s goal keeper, Allison Norenberg saved three goals, and Ohio’s goal keeper, Mattie Liston saved nine.  After the game, Mattie Liston stated that the team is going to “work on coming out stronger in the first half” in order to improve in the weeks to come.
